A barn away

Emily Wheeler, UNC '19, began her work as a horse barn keeper 4 years ago after seeing an advertisement asking for help in Open Eye Cafe, a local coffee shop located in Carrboro, NC. She has loved horses from a young age, however, she chose to refocus her energy from riding to care-taking after this opportunity arose. At one point, she was working at 5 barns and found herself hurrying to the car to begin making her rounds as quickly as possible to ensure all were fed and groomed before sunset. Wheeler finds her work to be therapeutic and looks forward to being outside at the end of each day.
